The varsity football team's contest at North Ridgeville on Friday, Sept. 3, has been chosen as the Browns Game of the Week, a new program introduced by the Browns to help promote youth football. The game will be covered by Browns reporters and highlights shown on www.clevelandbrowns.com. Come out to North Ridgeville and cheer the Rangers on to a second straight win!
Everyone is invited on Tuesday, Sept. 7, to come to Lakewood High’s Ranger Stadium for a very special event. At 9 a.m. sharp, the U.S. Army Parachute Team the Golden Knights will make a special drop-in appearance at the stadium. The entire LHS student body will be there for this unique presentation by one of the most elite jump teams in the world.

The State Report Card data for 2009-2010 is in, and Lakewood has improved upon its performance over the previous school year in nearly every major component, resulting in half of the district’s school buildings receiving Excellent ratings, including two – Grant and Lincoln elementaries – that received the highest rating of Excellent With Distinction.

Each August the district staff gathers for its annual Convocation the day before the new school year begins and the Superintendent sets the tone for the school year about to unfold. This year, Dr. Madak reminded everyone of the good that was accomplished last year and the challenges that lie ahead this year. From that, four important messages were imparted:    
  • We must conserve our resources 
  • The levy is making important differences 
  • We sought the millage our community could support
  • We must all work together

Two truckloads full of desks, chairs, lab tables, file cabinets and other such necessary items to outfit a school rolled out of the Lakewood High School parking lot early today, Aug. 17, on their way to Lake Local Schools outside of Toledo to help that district furnish a temporary high school being put together in the wake of a tornado that leveled Lake High School earlier this summer.

The Lakewood City Schools is co-hosting an eight-week discussion group designed for parents of teenagers. The discussion will center around the book "Please Stop the Rollercoaster! How Parents of Teenagers Can Smooth Out the Ride." Morning and evening sessions will be held at the Main Library and begin in late September. Click here for more info.
